Hassan started as an Ultrasonic Instrument Design Engineer in 1990, designing ultrasonic clamp-on and open
channels flowmeters for safe and Hazardous locations.
Spent 13 years developing embedded control and instrumentation products for fluid flow industry, and 7 years as a R&D manager at Moore Industries in LA, USA. Designing and developing physical layer equipment for use in hazardous areas for foundation fieldbus and safety critical loops.
In 2010, he moved to Sira Certification (NB) in UK as technical consultant in functional and Intrinsic safety.
In 2012, he became a team lead of Functional Safety (FS), managing FS products and company certifications.
In 2016, he moved to a new position as business manager in FS till September 2020.
In October 2020, Hassan moved to UL as BDM in Functional safety.
He brings more than 30 years of industrial experience in Functional Safety, Ex products design, safety devices in Hazloc, products certification and hands-on in applying IEC 61508, IEC 61511, EN 50271, Safety of Machinery, etc.
Delivered over 100 projects in functional safety, covering products and FSM certifications.
Published several FS technical papers in conferences and delivered many FS seminars in UK, US, Japan and China.
Granted the first redundant fieldbus system for use in Hazloc, interfaced with Emerson, Yokogawa, ABB logic solvers, and installed by Chevron, PB , Shell, and Aramco and PDO.
Granted more than 10 patents from USA and UK in instrumentation for use in Fieldbus.
Received best award for a technical paper presented at ISR (49th Symposium on Robotics), held in July 2017 in Shanghai, China.
He is an active member in SC65/ MT 61508 , GEL 65/1 and TC31 / WG 42.
