Nico Michels trained as a construction mechanic at Graaff Transportsysteme and studied production engineering at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hanover as part of the dual system. After graduating, he managed the design of chemical tank cars at Graaff Transportsysteme, focusing on modularization, digitalization of engineering, and product lifecycle management. In 2007, he moved to Fresenius Medical Care. There he developed and implemented Product Lifecycle Management and the necessary operational development and service organization. In 2015, Nico Michels moved to CLAAS. Here he developed and implemented Digital Product Engineering as a cross-sectional function for the CLAAS Group.
Since August 2020, Nico Michels has been developing and managing the Engineering System area at Fresenius Medical Care. The focus here is on the development, implementation and operation of a global engineering environment based on the systems engineering approach.
